Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has appointed Mr. Dane Silcox, Manager of the State Police Bureau of Identification, Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP), to the SEARCH Membership.
The appointment was made January 31, 2020.
The Bureau of Identification maintains the state’s Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) and Computerized Criminal History System (CCH) and conducts all criminal conviction record checks for convictions under Connecticut law, for both criminal justice and noncriminal justice purposes (such as for pre-employment and licensing background checks). Mr. Silcox also manages the State Police’s Reports and Records and Crime Analysis units. The Crime Analysis Unit oversees several state-mandated programs, including Uniform Crime Reporting, National Incident-Based Reporting, and Connecticut Family Violence Reporting.
In addition to serving as Connecticut’s representative on the SEARCH Membership Group, Mr. Silcox serves as Connecticut’s State Compact Officer, responsible for administering the National Crime Prevention and Privacy Compact within his state. The Compact facilitates electronic information sharing among the federal government and the states and permits the exchange of criminal history records for noncriminal justice purposes when authorized by federal or state law.
