New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has appointed Major Denman B. Powers of the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) to the SEARCH Membership Group.
Major Powers is Commanding Officer of the NJSP’s Identification & Information Technology Section, which is comprised of the Criminal Justice Records Bureau, Information Technology Bureau, and State Bureau of Identification. These bureaus provide technological services to the law enforcement community statewide, including publishing crime statistics, conducting background checks, and maintaining criminal history records.
Major Powers was appointed on July 13, 2020. As New Jersey’s representative to the SEARCH Membership, he succeeds Major Brandon F. Gray, who retired from the NJSP in June 2020, and who had served as SEARCH Vice Chair since 2018.
